Confessions From a Life on Holiday

{March 31, 1985}   About Me

Let’s see.  What you need to know about me.  I graduated from library school in New York with my MLS, and my undergrad degree is a B.A. in English with a minor in Music Performance (cello). I now live in the Albany area and work as a Youth Services Librarian about 5 minutes from my house. I’ve wanted to be a Youth Services Librarian in a public library since I was 16, and now here I am!

My other big passions, which I write about frequently, are varied.  I have two big ones.  The first is music– I play the cello, viola, guitar, and electric bass, plus I sing (alto II usually, sometimes tenor I) and I’m (very slowly) learning to play the piano/organ.  I write my own music too, though at this point it is not intended for ears beyond my own and the occasional close friend or two.  Maybe someday.  It’s my outlet, my passion, and (the other half of) my life.

I also have an undying love for TV, mostly crime dramas.  Of the shows that are actually ON TV right now, my die hard faves are Law and Order: Criminal Intent and NCIS.  I’m also a big sucker for The Biggest Loser (Jillian!  Jillian!) and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (don’t get me started, I’ll never shut up.)  Other hobbies and interests include, but are not limited to: Hello Kitty, shopping (I am a girl, after all), big dogs (if it can’t knock me over, I’ll pass), cats, riding on my uncle’s motorcycle, writing (music and plain old words),  theology, The Kennedy Family (they really are fascinating), power tools, target shooting, hooded sweatshirts, teen novels, hanging out with my friends, thrift stores and used book stores, helping others, and spending quality time with my family (you don’t realize how precious they are until you lose them.)

In a perfect world, I would like to become a published YA author someday, not so much because I want to write as because I feel there is a gap in YA fiction that I think I could fill.  I would also be a way better musician. :-)

I think that’s it. Welcome to my life on holiday!
